Actor Robert Blake “Baretta” Passes At Age 89.

Actor Robert Blake, best known for his portrayal of Tony Baretta in the hit 1970s television series “Baretta”, has died at the age of 89.

According to a statement released to the Associated Press on behalf of Blake’s niece, Noreen Austin, Blake died Thursday from heart disease at home surrounded by loved ones.

Born Michael James Gubitosi in New Jersey on September 18, 1933, Robert Blake began his acting career as a child star in the Our Gang comedies.

He went on to appear in numerous films and television shows throughout the years, earning critical acclaim for his performances along the way.

However, it was his role as Tony Baretta that cemented Blake’s place in pop culture history.

The show followed the adventures of a streetwise detective as he fought crime on the gritty streets of Los Angeles.
