On this day, October 16, 1954, Elvis Presley appeared on his first radio appearance on “Louisiana Hayride” at the age of 19 ! Louisiana Hayride was a regular radio program and later became a television country music show that was broadcast from the Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. During the show’s heyday which ran from 1948 to 1960 it helped to launch careers of some of the greatest names in American country and western music.
