On this day in 1960 – The pilot episode of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” aired on CBS.

The show was created by Carl Reiner and starred Dick Van Dyke as Rob Petrie, a comedy writer working for a fictional television show. The show also featured Barbara Britton as Rob’s wife, Laura, and Rose Marie as his colleague and friend, Sally Rogers. `

Although the show was not an instant success, it quickly developed a devoted following and went on to become one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time. Today, more than 60 years after it first aired, The Dick Van Dyke Show remains an timeless classic. Thanks for watching!
