On This Day – Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In

On this day, January 22, 1968 – “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In” debuted on NBC TV. Laugh-In was an American sketch comedy and television program that ran for a total of 140 episodes starting January 22, 1968 until March 12, 1973. It was hosted by comedians Dan Rowan and Dick Martin. It was originally aired as being a one-time special that aired on September 9, 1967 and was such a success that it was brought back as a weekly series, replacing The Man from U.N.C.L.E. It soon quickly became the most popular television show in the United States at the time.
